Coffee with the Bloggers: Kellie

Our Out of Office blog has been around for about a year and a half now – time really flies! But in all that time (and all those posts!) we realize that we’ve never really gotten the chance to sit down and tell our readers a little more about ourselves. You know, like you would chat with new friends over coffee. So in our attempt to translate that “get to know you” experience to the digital world, this is the first in a mini-series of posts that will let you get to know us a bit better. And if you have a “Coffee with the Bloggers” question you’d like answered, just leave it in the comments section below!

All About Kellie
Q: If you weren’t blogging for Out of Office, what kind of blog would you want to write?
A: Random musings…and probably no one would read it. I’m not a particularly skilled culinary artist so a food blog is out. I don’t do fashion well so that’s out…I’d probably just tell funny stories from life and silly quotes that I hear. Like I said, no one would read that, so I’ll stick with this blog.
Q: Favorite type of food?
A: This may be the hardest question that I have to answer because I love all food, especially since I am expecting and eating for two these days. I’m almost ashamed to say that they are getting to know me in the drive-thru lines pretty well, and come October, I’m really going to miss my double-lunch schedule!
Home-grown tomatoes from my grandparents’ garden with a pinch of salt are an all-time favorite (as you can see below), but I can really get excited about pasta with tomato-based sauces, too. Oh, and Tex-Mex! And chicken tortilla soup! And tomato basil soup from a bakery here. And sweet watermelon! Really, I like everything. It’s almost easier to list what I don’t like.

Yep, that’s me, tomato lover since the beginning.
Q: Best vacation you’ve ever taken?
A: My now-husband planned a great trip to San Francisco and a California winery as a surprise right after we were engaged. Ever been to Carmel? It’s lovely.
The trip was a blast and he didn’t miss a detail. To keep it under wraps, he told me we were going camping in Arkansas. Since I’m not a real “roughing it” kind of girl, I begrudgingly dragged my sleeping bag out of the attic, purchased copious amounts of bug repellant and was ready to go, but the California trip was waaaay better. I’m still using up that bug repellant I purchased.
Q: Favorite project on the OOO site and “dream project” you’d like to undertake.
A: There are so many good ones that it’s hard to choose! I loved guest blogger Lynsey’s wall monogram project, Leah’s road trip post and Kim’s freezer labels. I’d also like to make the cookie recipe that our guest blogger Stephanie shared for a holiday post. Most of my “dream projects” these days revolve around baby nurseries and new kitchen appliances (When did I grow up?).
Q: Favorite/Last book you read and what did you like about it.
A: Generally, I love books about dogs and relationships with them. A few favorites are Marley and Me, The Art of Racing in the Rain, A Dog Called Kitty and Good Dog Stay. Dr. Seuss’ Oh the Places You’ll Go makes me feel both nostalgic and inspired at the same time – it was a graduation gift.
Q: Cat/dog person?
A: Dog. Positively. As if my last answer didn’t give that away! We have two, Conrad, a big, goofy, loveable Boxer (he’s a whopping eight years old, but people ask all the time how old our “puppy” is since he has so much energy), and Molly, a neurotic Bichon with chronic allergy issues (she didn’t agree with the move to Texas). Molly’s been with me since college, and I got Conrad by marriage but I wouldn’t trade him for the world.
My “children”
Q: How long have you worked at FedEx Office and what do you do there?
A: Since November 2009. I do some media relations and handle our community relations programs. Plus, I write for this blog!
Q: What’s the best thing FedEx ever delivered to you/printed for you?
A: It’s hard to pick a favorite. FedEx has delivered lots of things to me over the years, from Christmas packages to care packages, even job offer letters (that’s how we do it at FedEx). FedEx Office, however, did an awesome job of printing several things for my wedding.
Q: How do you like your coffee?
A: I don’t, really. On the rare occasion that I like coffee-ish drinks, I get a chai latte from a well-known coffee franchise that seems to be on just about every street corner in America.
