Coffee with the Bloggers: Kim

It’s time again for our latest installment of “Coffee with the Bloggers” – a series of posts we started last month to let Out of Office readers know a little bit more about each of our bloggers. We’ll be answering questions like we would with friends over coffee…hence the title! And if you have a “Coffee with the Bloggers” question you’d like answered, just leave it in the comments section below!

All About Kim

Q: If you weren’t blogging for Out of Office, what kind of blog would you want to write?

A: My personal blog would be about new things I learn or helpful tips about favorite hobbies like healthy cooking, designing and making jewelry, creating handmade cards, sewing, reading books and being active outside.

Q: Favorite way to relax and unwind?

A: Swim laps, jump on a diving board, read a book or make craft projects.

Q: Best vacation you’ve ever taken?

A: A few years ago I went to the Guanacaste region (northeast) of Costa Rica. I had a chance to sail a catamaran, zip line through the rainforest and swim in the ocean during sunrise. It was a great vacation!

Q: What did you study in school?  Why, and how does it connect/not connect to what you do now?

A: During my first couple years at Pepperdine, I tossed around a few majors like law and business. As I learned more about Public Relations, I felt like it was a great fit for me. I like the creative and strategic side of PR as well as building relationships. Some of the most exciting moments in my career have been opening up a magazine or newspaper to see a full page story that grew from an idea I shared with the reporter. I also majored in Spanish. I’ve always enjoyed learning about other cultures and languages.

Q: Favorite project on the OOO site and “dream project” you’d like to undertake?

A: There are so many creative ideas on the blog. My favorite is Kellie's I’m Thankful For post. Many times I get lost in busyness of life and forget to tell those I care about that I am grateful for their role in my life. These cards can be designed to be used year around to show appreciation without having a holiday on the calendar as a reminder. I also enjoyed making the freezer labels featured here. I like organization and love to cook, so this was a fun project. But a dream project….the ideas are limitless! I’ll have to get back to you on that.

Q: Favorite/Last book you read and what did you like about it

A: I love to read! I prefer to pick up a book over a movie any day. I like books that give me a glimpse into different historic periods and cultures. It’s hard for me to put down a good love story or suspenseful book. Most recently, I liked Redeeming Love and The Help.

Q: How long have you worked at FedEx Office and what do you do there?

A: I have been a part of the FedEx Office Communications team since August 2010. In my role, I help our company announce new products and services through Public Relations.

Q: How do you take your coffee?

A: I pass on coffee, but love tea. I drink green tea every morning and iced tea at lunch. I also enjoy a Chai Tea Latte with soy milk as sweet treat.
