Do-it-Yourself Wall Art

I am in the process of buying a new house, and I have my work cut out for me. Besides the packing, moving and unpacking, I also need to decorate every room. Things to consider…what color should I paint, what kind of accessories would I like for each room, and what should go on those bare walls???
There are tons of creative ideas on the Internet for how to create your own custom wall art if you don’t want to invest in prints or paintings. You can make a collage with old photos from childhood or frame individual photos and then stagger them in an alternating or ascending pattern across the wall. Another option is to turn a treasured family photo into a large canvas print.
And if you’re feeling super creative, check out this neat blog article on how to create works of art from old postage stamps. Let me know what you think and please share your ideas for cool wall art! I could use the ideas for my new digs…

Lucky
I think you're lucky to have a "blank canvas" so to speak. I moved into the house my husband already owned, and had to work with some of the artwork he already had. I did get my way as far as repainting the living room, which was "post-it note yellow" when I moved in. He didn't paint it that color (we can thank the previous owners for that) but he didn't dislike it enough to paint over it in the 2 years he lived here before we married. Anyway, our walls are mostly beige (blah) but I'm slowly adding stuff to the walls -- mostly pictures of our families and our baby boy.
Family Art Work
I don't have many pieces of art on the walls. No prints. No paintings. No murals. But, I do have many photos of my family on the walls. For me family photos are art.
Art work can be expensive, but I don't spend a huge amount of money on portraits. For each child, I had portraits taken at 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 months, 2, 2 1/2, and 3. From 3 onwards, each child had a school photo. In addition to individual photos, I have family photos taken about every two years.
This is great for family
This is great for family memories.
I definitely need help in
I definitely need help in this area. Although I have managed to get two things up on the wall, that's about it. And we've lived here ten years. LOL
Photo Art
The best thing about photo art is it's original and great to look at. Good luck.
Thanks!
The other great thing about photo art is that you can switch it out with new pictures and the old ones become keepsakes.
