Fun with Faux Picture Frames

Giving a photo of your child as a gift is a great idea for friends, family, and even teachers as the school year comes to a close. However, you do run into one dilemma – how to give it to them. You can either just give them a bare photo or put it into a picture frame that will cost at least five to ten dollars and usually lack personality. A third option is to create your own custom picture that you and your kids can decorate and make personal. Plus it's pretty easy. You can print your photos off at home or using the Sony Picture Station available at many FedEx Office centers. And while there, ask one of the FedEx Office team members for a small easel back, which will cost less than a dollar.
Then take a sheet of 8.5” x 11” cardstock. Any color will do, just pick one you like and cut it in half so you end up with a 5.5” x 8.5” sheet. Now, take one of the half sheets and have the kiddos decorate the margins with stickers, drawings, notes to the recipient or whatever you like.. Just remember that the photo will cover up anything in the middle. Next, you should center and attach the photo using a glue stick so it’s easy to reposition if you need to. Finally, grab your easel back to place it on the rear of the cardstock frame. The easel back has a piece of double-stick tape on it and when attached to the middle of the back of your new custom picture frame allows it to stand up like a store-bought frame.
There you have it! A simple, custom and personal picture frame that takes your child’s photo and makes it into a unique and special gift that is fitting for Father’s Day or as thank-you presents for teachers.

Fabulous Photo Project!
As a photographer, I'm always giving friends and family pictures of the kids. This is a great way to add a little "sass" to it and ensure those photos won't just get stuck in a drawer. Easy to follow directions for any skill level, too!
