Name That Baby!

At my work, the “pregnancy bug” seems to be going around. Whether it’s their first or second child (or their sixth in some cases!), expecting mothers agree having a baby is an exciting time. All the planning and preparation can be overwhelming, especially when added to the unbalanced hormones. Baby showers are a welcomed escape because you get to leave the planning to someone else! Many women have multiple showers thrown for them by family, friends, and co-workers.

A few years ago I threw a baby shower for a close friend of mine and I wanted every detail to be perfect. When it came time for celebrating my own pregnancy, I could truly appreciate all the time, love, and effort that go into planning such an event.

I was recently asked to host a baby shower for a co-worker and I want to do something special. This is my first time planning an event of such importance for a co-worker and I want it to be memorable. The part of the shower I can best utilize my creativity is the games. I am going to take an idea I used at my friend’s shower and adapt it for the workplace.

I put a twist on the classic “Name the Baby” game. I designed a tabloid-sized poster (11x17”) using a photo of the mom-to-be, text, and simple shapes. I used Adobe Illustrator to make mine, but you can use the program you are most comfortable with such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Publisher.  I then had the poster printed and laminated; this increases the durability and gives it a cleaner look. Next, I attached a dry erase marker with some blue ribbon.

I’m so looking forward to seeing the quirky name suggestion my co-workers come up with at the shower!
