Round-Up: Office Holiday Parties and Games

It’s that time of year, the much-anticipated holiday office party. It’s a chance to step away from the computer, meetings and projects to spend time getting to know your co-workers and celebrate the team’s accomplishments of the year.
Games are a great way to encourage mingling among departments and provide a fun opportunity to get to know each another in a casual setting. Here are some interesting ideas for holiday games:
- One of my favorite holiday work activities is the company craft exchange. Similar to the traditional secret Santa, you make a handmade craft for your secret co-worker. No purchased gifts allowed! Ideas are limitless ranging from necklaces and gingerbread houses to ornaments and baked goods.
- PartyGameIdeas.com offers a wide variety of fun and engaging game ideas. My favorite is the "12 Days of Christmas" idea. Employees create business-inspired verses for the carol, and then sing at the company holiday party. Also, you can try Employee Trivia and get to know more about your colleagues.
- Another fun game the Out of Office bloggers are playing this holiday season is the FedEx Office Gift Shipper. Check it out and see if you can outscore us – we dare you! Post your score below in the comments section and we’ll name the 2010 Out of Office Blog Gift Shipper Champion at the end of the month.

Oh, why must the simple games be the most addictive? This is great fun and an nifty way to educate customers about the benefits of FedEx shipping services!

This overly competitive Ketchum friend scored 26,168. It only took (a few) tries and nearly breaking my keyboard, but I'd say my "driving" skills are quite exemplary.

Sometimes OOO blogger Stephanie Buttrill here. I just played the Gift Shipper game and came in with a score of 7,512. That's good, right?! :) Guess I'll just have to wait and see how I stack up against some other OOO players...
I beat you, Stephanie!
I got a score of 21,944! No joke! I think I got some bonus points because I kept driving through 4x and 5x icons. The real challenge is trying to make more than three drop-offs in one game! I have only been able to make two...
