Spring Clean Your Closet with a Clothing Swap Party

If you haven’t worn it in six months, get rid of it. You most likely will never wear it again.

This wardrobe rule sticks in my mind when deciding to keep clothes since I tend to wear the same outfits over and over again. Instead of tossing clothes you’ve gotten tired of, why not share them with friends? Recycle, freshen up your wardrobe and have fun by hosting a Spring Cleaning Clothing Swap Party. There is no better way to welcome in spring than cleaning out unused clothes and accessories from your closet and getting some fun new finds in return!

I’m excited to host my first Clothing Swap Party this month. I found a lot of useful tips online for hosting a swap – including things I may not have thought about in advance like:

·         Ensuring everyone at the party is roughly the same size so no one is left option-less

·         Setting ground rules for how to handle a battle for a fabulous sweater or scarf

Before the party can get started I had to design an invitation (check out my template here). Since I didn’t have a lot of time to visit the print shop, I uploaded my file online and had all the invitations waiting for me at the local FedEx Office when I was ready to pick them up.Now my invitations are in the mail and I can’t wait to share my clothes and find new outfits with friends. If you’ve had a party like this and have some advice to share, leave it in the comments section!

Belinda, I'm so glad your

Belinda, I'm so glad your clothes swap was a success. I didn't think about exchanging kitchen items, but why not! Great idea!

Sounds like fun event that everyone took part in. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Let me know how your second annual swap goes!

Clothes Swap

Had my first clothes swap last year and it was a wonderful success.  All the left over items went to Goodwill.

I will be having my second annual clothes swap and the word got out from the first one and now have a lot of guests waiting for the event.

I not only requested clothes, shoes, jewelry, hats, belts, but also small kitchen items.  It was very surprising to find out how many items were exchanged and the ladies saying how they either were in search of an item or were in need of one.

It's such a wonderful feeling to helps others and put a smile on their face.

In my clothes swap event I provided all the hors d'ouervres and had my guests bring one bottle of wine along with their items and they loved it!  I requested that they also bring a reusable bag to take their new findings in.
