Sticking Out with Sticky Notes

Have you ever heard about taking an apple for the teacher on the first day of school? And I don’t mean a computer here! Apparently, apples are considered the traditional present for teachers in the United States, Denmark and Sweden. Some say the practice began as a form of payment for lessons, and others believe they were given because of the good health associated with apples. Whatever the reason, it’s a short-lived gift!

This year, why not take your teacher a different gift, maybe something practical that will last all year long? We have an idea – sticky notes! Who can’t use sticky notes – especially teachers?  They are great for reminders, to-do lists, hall passes and more. While I don’t have kids in school myself, I sure do know a lot of teachers. I made the sticky notes pictured in this post for my friend Katie, who teaches 5th grade. Katie is getting married next month and I thought she might appreciate something with her new last name, so I came up with these daintily designed sticky notes that say “From the desk of Mrs. Moore.”   I think they turned out so well! I hope she likes them as much as I do.

I made these using the FedEx Office Design & Print Center, and they cost about $5 per pad – but with the 20% off promotion on Design & Print Center products right now it cost me even lessThey come in sets of five, and you can make almost any design imaginable! For a teacher I liked “from the desk of” but you could also do monograms, logos or upload your own design or photo. It was super easy, super fast and super cute. They were mailed to my house in about five days and I just can’t wait to see them in Katie’s colorful classroom this year.

I’m stuck on sticky notes myself – I probably go through five each day!

Sticking Out with Sticky Notes

What a great idea about the doing the personalized notepads for teachers. The holiday's are just around the corner and that's a great price point especially if you have lots of teachers to buy for this year.

I'm taking your idea and doing it for teacher holiday gifts. - Thanks for sharing.
