Sweet School Year Memories

Something you hear parents say on practically a daily basis is that their children grow up way too fast. It seems as though I blinked and my little man is turning 3 years old! Baby jungle animals are being replaced by superheroes and I am just trying to hold onto every moment I can.

As he gets older I have been thinking of ways to capture and celebrate milestones in his life. With each new year his teachers and friends change and I wanted to find a way to embrace those changes – especially with school only a few years away! Two of my favorite ideas are candy wrapper stickers and autograph books.

SWEET MEMORIES

These candy wrapper stickers were created in a few easy steps:

·         Choose the size of labels you want to make (I used a label template in Microsoft® Word that had 30 labels per sheet).

·         Type different memories from learning activities throughout the school year, such as “Story Time” or “Multiplication Tables.”

·         Have them printed on label stock.

·         Attach them to fun size candy bars or treats (I used a peanut free candy).

·         Hand them out for teachers and classmates to enjoy!

REMEMBER MY NAME

Brody will be graduating to a new daycare room soon. Even though the kids in my son’s daycare class still need help writing their name, they have no problems drawing pictures and an autograph book is a nice tradition to start. Here are the steps I followed to create my book:

·         Choose the size you want your book to be (I used postcard size so that I could get more pages from less cardstock).

·         Use a program such as Microsoft® Word to create your cover and any designs you want on the pages.

·         Print your book on cardstock or colored paper.

·         Cut to the pages to the size you selected.

·         Bind the book to preserve the signatures (I used a nice frosted cover and navy blue back).

·         You can also punch holes and fasten it with a metal ring or paper fastener.

·         Have classmates, friends, family, and teachers sign to create something your child can enjoy looking at in the future. Similar to a yearbook, people can include their favorite memories with your child with each passing year.
