And the Oscar Goes to…

Ok, I’ll admit it.  I’m a sucker for awards show fashions and celebrity gossip. My husband teases me about it, but there’s just something about the whole notion of celebrity that is fascinating to me. At the end of the day, they’re just people; albeit with interesting jobs, private jets and seemingly a lot of extra time on their hands. Oh, and fabulous clothes. Like I said – fascinating.

So I’m sure you can imagine I’m excited about the Oscars. What (or rather, who) will they wear? Who will they thank first in their acceptance speeches? Of course, I’m also excited to see which films and performances will be recognized as the year’s best. This year I’m hosting a watching party and wanted to share a few of the ideas I’ll be incorporating:

·         Academy Award Prediction Board: Everyone has a movie they think deserves to win, so why not turn those opinions into a friendly competition? I created this template so guests can record their votes for the big categories by writing their names in the box corresponding with their prediction. I made it large enough to fit everyone’s names and laminated it in case someone wants to change their vote. The person with the most correct guesses will win a prize at the end of the night.

·         Oscar Expert: There are lots of categories and, let’s face it, some just aren’t that interesting. I created a trivia game for my guests to play during those lulls with questions about the Oscars and the movies and actors nominated this year. Whoever has the most correct answers at the end of the show is the “Oscar Expert” and will have to defend their title at our party next year.

During the last few days before the big show, I’m trying to catch up on the movies I haven’t seen yet and finalize my predictions. As you count down, check out fellow Out of Office blogger Sonya’s post from Oscar season last year for other great ideas! Happy watching!
