Cheers to a More Organized Year!

In 2012, I want to keep my home and family organized, so I went all out with calendars, to-do lists, and an amazing resource binder. I knew by starting the year off with all the right tools, I’d be setting myself up to keep what could otherwise be a pretty tough resolution! FedEx Office® was the ultimate one-stop shop for getting everything in order. I used them to make all the items that I hope will make 2012 my most productive and organized yet!
Calendars
FedEx Office has a wide selection of calendars. I purchased an oversized one for my desk at home and for my husband’s office. I also made small desktop calendars through FedEx Office® Design & Print Center with personalized pictures of our son and gave one to my husband for his office, kept one for home, and gave them as gifts to my family. Of course I also had to purchase a planner for work and a small one to keep in my purse. I am not leaving any tasks undone this year!

To-Do List
I make lists for practically everything I do, otherwise it seems I always forget something and have to make another trip! I decided to customize my own weekly checklist to keep me on target. Here are the steps I followed to make my to-do list tear-off pad:
· Find a template you like. I found one in Microsoft Word® but there are others readily available online.
· Tailor it to fit your needs. I included spaces for each day to fill in to-do items and phone calls I need to make. Then I customized it to include my typical tasks such as making a trip to the grocery store, gas station, bank, etc. I also left an area for notes at the bottom to include anything I may have forgotten. I even included a spot for birthdays and anniversaries.
· Print your list. You can make them any size you like. I set mine up to print two on a page to save paper and cost.
· Take them to a FedEx Office location near you and have them cut (if necessary) and padded to create an easy tear-off pad. I printed mine in color but you can save costs by printing in black and white on colored paper to keep it unique and interesting.

Household Resource Binder
I found a neat idea on organizedhome.com to create a household notebook. I took inspiration from their idea and created my own three-ring binder filled with any resources my family might need. Using a binder is an easy way to store your information and have plenty of room to make additions to your book. I made my own tabs to separate the sections with headings such as chores, health and wellness, checklists, etc. I then used Microsoft Word to type up my forms. I created checklists and compiled lists of all the important information my family may need in the upcoming year. I made an address list, birthday party planner, yard sale and travel checklists and many more valuable entries. You can be as simple or as elaborate as you want as you customize your book.

Hopefully you will find this information useful as you manage your home in the New Year!
