Got a Good Book? Mark it!
I may not be a parent myself, but I love my godchildren like nothing else. And one of my favorite things to do when visiting them is reading together before bedtime. Granted, 2 year old Gracie hasn’t quite gotten into the ritual yet, but Blake and I have been reading books together for years.
With that in mind, I thought I’d share a quick and easy project idea. I’m talking about making personalized bookmarks! This is great as a craft project for kids on a rainy day or you can make them as stuffers for stockings and gift baskets around the holidays. Hint: Easter is just around the corner!
The bookmarks can be made with everyday materials you have around the house, too. You can use anything and everything from old photos or wall paper scraps, to fabric or scrapbook paper remnants. To get you started, I made up a template you can download below as a guide for how tall and wide to make the bookmarks. Next, gather your materials – paper, photos glue, stickers and other decorative accessories – and get to crafting!
Once you’re happy with the bookmark, stop by your local FedEx Office or other similar store to get them laminated. This will protect the bookmarks as I imagine they will eventually land in something wet or sticky. It only costs a few dollars – and they’ll last a whole lot longer in the hands of little ones with that protective coating!
I decided to go with a photo of Blake and Gracie’s new puppy, Putt-Putt. Isn’t he adorable?!?!!! Oh, and remember to decorate the front and back of the bookmark!
