New Year’s Resolutions Series: Keeping in Touch

Ah, 2010. You got here faster than I expected. And after ringing in the New Year, there’s always a renewed commitment to fitness or health or dieting or something too hard to stick with. Last year, my resolution was to take more pictures since I gave myself the gift of a new digital camera. I succeeded, mostly.

This year, I ‘m resolving to stay in touch with friends. Since I recently moved away, I’m even more determined to make sure this resolution sticks. And so I had personalized stationery printed to help me keep with it.

I believe letter-writing is a lost art. It doesn’t take that much time to jot down a quick note, and it can be for any occasion – birthdays, celebrations, graduation, sympathy, thank you, or just because you were thinking about someone.

As I started checking into stationery, I learned that there are several types of personal stationery:

  • Letterhead, which feels more business-like than I wanted
  • Flat cards, which are about the size of a postcard, but they go in an envelope
  • Folded cards, which are like most thank you cards you see

I picked the flat cards because they seemed to lend themselves to scribbling short little notes. I designed them online and my cards turned out beautifully! It was a lot of fun to design them! I spent forever trying to decide which colors, fonts and finishes I wanted. You can even add your monogram, a pattern, design or a pretty border. I ultimately picked the one you see above from a template and I can’t wait to use it. They’re so cheery and bright!

Now I’m trying to gather ideas on what to design next. I don’t want to go the template route next time; I want to truly design my own. What have you guys designed that turned out well?

I'm terrible

I'm terrible about keeping in touch...and it's much harder now that I'm in Michigan.  I'm not a big fan of talking on the phone...I much prefer e-mail, text messages, and of course FaceBook!  I can type SO much faster than I can write a note.  I do agree, however, that it's very nice to receive this kind of note.

Love this resolution! I SO

Love this resolution! I SO prefer getting tangible notes opposed to email! So much more personal!

I totally agree!

I know how much I love receiving notes, so I love to send them as well.

Don't forget eco-friendly
