Shower Invitations Bathed in Style

Have you ever hosted a baby shower for a friend or relative? I remember how much I enjoyed my own, and I’ve had my fair share of opportunities to help organize these special occasions, too. My favorite part is designing the invitations. I love to personalize the invites and find unique ways to tie the theme of the party to the style of the invitations. It’s easier than you might think!
You can create your own design with programs like Microsoft Publisher or Adobe Photoshop Elements and use colorful borders, patterns and adorable clip art that match the theme of the shower. Shower themes can range from pastel-inspired parties to spa showers or tea parties. Whatever theme you decide on, don’t forget to weave that style into the decorations and invitations to create a consistent look throughout the party. There’s nothing more confusing than getting an elegant, formal event invitation, but you show up and it’s a very casual, informal affair!
If you need a little more help with designing the invitation, you could use one of the many note card templates offered through the FedEx Office Design & Print Center online or at a kiosk in one of our centers. To celebrate the proud mom-to-be, you could gather photos of her during different stages of pregnancy and create a custom photo card to serve as the invitation. Mix it up and include some candid photos, close-ups, and funny poses. Here a couple of samples of the designs available through FedEx Office Design & Print Center.
Another way to add a personal touch to the invitation is by using colorful stickers – or even wax seals – to seal the envelope. Local craft or stationery stores usually have lots of options to choose from.
Last but not least, don’t forget about the most important element of the invitations – stamps! Send your invitations at least six weeks in advance of the shower so you give everyone enough time to save the date.
And if you are having a more informal affair, think about some of the great new online invitation options that are out there, like Paperless Post, CocoDot or pingg. Definitely worth checking out for stylish electronic invites to low-key get togethers!
