Eliminate Cup Confusion with Custom Labels

There’s nothing worse than losing track of your drink at a party. It happens to me all the time, especially at family gatherings where everyone is milling about and engrossed in conversation. There’s the tried and true permanent marker method, where everyone writes their names or initials on their cup, but let’s be honest – it doesn’t look very polished and sometimes if you don’t have the right kind of marker it rubs right off.

Well, it doesn’t have to be this way! The last time I ended up thirsty and drinkless, I came up with a simple idea to keep track of everyone’s drinks without compromising presentation or your party theme. Dry erase labels! I designed a versatile template that I can reuse for parties (including kid’s birthdays!), picnics, volunteer events, or really any time when cup confusion presents itself. Best of all, FedEx Office® can quickly print the labels on a dry erase vinyl, and they offer a multitude of different vinyl colors to match any theme!

DIY Mini Magnets as Chic Home Décor

I love simple, homemade gifts that are unique, serve a purpose and look like they took a lot longer to make than they actually do! To that end, I found a great idea on Keep It Simple for DIY bubble magnets. After I saw this project, I just had to recreate it for my desk. See below for my take and how to replicate it! ...read more

As many of our regular readers know,  my husband and I are expecting a baby later this year.   It’s a special time, and I don’t want to forget any of it later – the excitement, anticipation, and even the not-so-pleasant things like cravings for cheeseburgers. I decided to make a pregnancy journal to record all the details.   ...read more

Baby on its Way to Friends or Family?
Let the World Know!

Having a lot of little cousins in my family, I get to see the joy when a new baby enters the world. I also have a few friends expecting this year, so I wanted to test out a fun baby gift. Because we know the name of the soon-to-arrive baby, I decided to use FedEx Office Design & Print Center to make an “It’s a Boy!” baby name sign to share the news of her arrival. You can also do this right after the baby’s birth if the new parents want to keep the name a secret.

Parents can put this sign in front of their house for a month or so after the birth, and then save it as a keepsake.

Creating the sign online is simple – just search for the keyword baby to get dozens of design templates and free shipping.

A “Sweet” Baby Shower Game

Guest blogger Katie Nasche is a communications advisor for FedEx Office. Katie is a busy mom of two girls, and in her spare time, she enjoys baking and scrapbooking. Today, Katie shares with us a fun idea for a baby shower game.

I recently co-hosted a baby shower for a friend, and we played a fun and funny game I wanted to share. It was a spin on the children’s memory game where players take turns choosing two cards looking for a match.

We used a large piece of poster board as our game board instead of making baby-themed cards that players turn over. We then numbered a stack of sticky notes from 1-34 (you can do more or less for as many matches as you want). We put the sticky notes in neat rows along the game board, and behind each one we wrote a pregnancy or baby-related word like “Baby Girl” or “Epidural.” Remember – each word has to appear twice on the game board, so you’ll need half as many words as you have sticky notes.

Before May Flowers Come April Showers…

…bridal showers that is! With wedding season right around the corner, the invitations are starting to pile in for spring and summer weddings, as well as the accompanying bridal showers and other pre-wedding celebrations.

Bridal games can be great ice-breakers for the guests to get to know each other (especially as you get to know your fiancé’s extended family) and I developed some tips for easy-to-make customized games to add a special touch to the event.

Here are a few ideas to jump-start your creativity:

Shower Invitations Bathed in Style

Have you ever hosted a baby shower for a friend or relative? I remember how much I enjoyed my own, and I’ve had my fair share of opportunities to help organize these special occasions, too. My favorite part is designing the invitations. I love to personalize the invites and find unique ways to tie the theme of the party to the style of the invitations. It’s easier than you might think!

You can create your own design with programs like Microsoft Publisher or Adobe Photoshop Elements and use colorful borders, patterns and adorable clip art that match the theme of the shower. Shower themes can range from pastel-inspired parties to spa showers or tea parties. Whatever theme you decide on, don’t forget to weave that style into the decorations and invitations to create a consistent look throughout the party. There’s nothing more confusing than getting an elegant, formal event invitation, but you show up and it’s a very casual, informal affair!  ...read more
