Turn Vintage Photos into Creepy Halloween Wall Décor
Looking for an inexpensive way to spook your Halloween guests? We’ve got you covered.
These creepy imageswill look great hung on a wall or placed in small frames on your serving table at any scary Halloween party. You can design your own using the instructions provided here. Then have them printed in whatever size will fit your frames at your local FedEx Office®.
How to make your own creepy vintage photos:
Supplies:
· Vintage photo image files. Landscapes work best and the larger the better if you want to print big versions for your walls. You can use your own photos or find public domain photos online. (You can find photos from public archives like the Library of Congress with no copyright restrictions here.)
Method:
· Pick a landscape or interior photograph with a suitably spooky feel.
· Pick a portrait photograph to be your 'ghost'. Your best photo will have a dark background, with the person(s) dressed in white. Old wedding photos work great for this!
· In your photo editing program (these directions assume Photoshop), cut out the figure from the background. Do not worry if you get some of the background, this does not have to be perfect.
· Paste your figure on to your new background (as a new layer).
· In your layers palette, change the blending mode from normal to screen for the layer that contains your figure.
· You may want to decrease the opacity of the figure layer as well; use your judgment. Finally, to make the figure appear to float, use a large soft brush to erase some of the bottom of the figure.
Once you have your final files, just take them to your local FedEx Office and have them color printed in whatever size you need to fit your décor.
