Personalized Valentine’s Day cards make school parties more fun!

Remember being a kid and decorating a shoe box in pink and red paper, glitter and candy hearts? This year is my son’s first school Valentine’s Day party and it has me reminiscing about when I was kid. It was so fun to open my special Valentine box and find cards and candy from my classmates. He’s starting to build friendships, so I wanted to make something extra special for him to share with the kids in his class. These are so easy to make and everyone will know exactly who gave them.

Here’s how you make them:
1.     Find a good photo of your child. You can take one or use a school picture.
2.     Bring the photo (you can scan the hard copy or save a digital image file to a USB drive for the best quality) to FedEx Office®. At the self-service photo printing kiosk, you can create 4” x 8” photo cards.

Create a Character Cutout for Kid-Friendly Halloween Photos

Halloween is just around the corner and this year I want to throw a kid-friendly Halloween party since so many of my friends are parents – like I am!

I was inspired to make this a kid-sized face cutout for the children to have their photos taken with when we received our fall stationery at the FedEx Office® where I work. All the cute pumpkins and ghosts got me into the Halloween spirit. Since it's for children, I wanted to create something festive but not too scary for the little ones. This cutout would also work well for a school carnival or neighborhood event, since it can easily be used year after year.

Here's how I created this one-of-a-kind photo prop: ...read more

Here’s To You, Dad!

Father’s Day is fast approaching and that means it’s time to start brainstorming new and exciting ideas to honor the special dads out there. Dads love to grill, but since it’s his day, why not let him hang up the tongs and relax? Instead, pull the kiddos together and start creating a day of backyard fun, complete with customized lawn games and a picnic. Read on for a few tips to get started…

·         Grub. In my opinion, food is the linchpin of any party, and a backyard Father’s Day is no exception. Make all of dad’s favorites, or pick up some delicious takeout from a local restaurant as a special treat. Don’t forget to grab some fun paper plates, cups and plastic silverware and carry it all out to the backyard. All that’s left is to spread out a picnic blanket and enjoy!

Making Art Come Alive with 3D Touches

Every small child I know has a special blanket or a stuffed animal that they must NOT, under any circumstances, be sent to bed without. My own daughter can't sleep without "Bun-Bun," her stuffed bunny. She also has a special blanket that has been loved into little bits. Bun-Bun and her blankie are inseparable and a must-have item every evening at bedtime. The comfort they both provide for her is so priceless to me, I thought it would be sweet to find a way to honor both items and the special place they have in our lives. A visit to the local FedEx Office® provided me with the perfect inspiration. When I realized they offered custom canvas art prints, I knew immediately that it would be the perfect medium for creating heirloom-worthy art to decorate my little girl's room. No matter what your child's special companion is (my son's is a stuffed dinosaur), here is a list to get you started:

Thank You Notes Your Kids Will Want to Write

Now that the holidays are over, we’re experiencing a different kind of season at our house – thank you note season! I know I was supposed to have those written and sent a couple of weeks ago, but better late than never, right? My mom (who I hope isn’t reading this) would disagree. I remember her hounding me as a kid after every gift giving occasion to get those thank you notes written and in the mailbox. ...read more
