Free Photo Prints

Did that get your attention? It got mine!

The Thanksgiving holiday just passed and Christmas is right around the corner. On top of that, my son recently turned three and I’ve been thinking lately about how I need to make sure we have all his best baby photos off the digital camera and printed out for frames, scrapbooks and albums. We have a lot of his baby photos and memories preserved on our family’s blog, but it’s nice to have the prints, too. That’s why I’m so excited to share a special deal for photo prints with you today.

When you become a new Snapfish user through the FedEx Office photo site, you’ll receive 50 free 4x6 photo prints. For those who haven’t already tried out Snapfish, it offers: ...read more

The Table is Set…

…For a great Thanksgiving dinner! Happy Thanksgiving from the Out of Office bloggers!

This season, we’ve shared what we’re thankful for, and what we’re not so thankful for, and it’s finally time to celebrate with family. Now…let’s talk turkey! But beware of that slumber-inducing tryptophan!

Coasters that Gobble

When I was growing up my family had decorations for every occasion and season. In the fall, Halloween decorations are quickly replaced with harvest decorations. To us, decorations are more than objects; they hold our memories and give us a chance to reminisce. Many of them are handmade by me or my sisters when we were young and give us a good laugh. In my home, I have tried to keep the traditions of my family going while giving it a twist of my own. As you gather around the table and give thanks, I wanted to give you an idea to personalize your table setting.

My son brings home tons of art projects from daycare. I never knew a child’s handprint could be made into so many things! One of the most popular creations of the season is the turkey handprint. One way to preserve this adorable masterpiece is to use it on your dinner table for all your guests to see. Just make it into a coaster! Luckily a child’s tiny handprint is the perfect size for this festive decoration. ...read more

Turning Thanksgiving Upside Down

It’s opposite day here on the Out of Office blog, and while we love (dearly love!) Thanksgiving and all the great traditions that come with it, we know the holidays have a flip side too. They can get stressful...really stressful.

For instance, I know that in previous years, I’ve had a lot of anxiety about the meal. A couple years ago, my now-husband and I hosted BOTH our families (that’s 11 people, folks!) at my little house on Thanksgiving Day. I made every side dish imaginable to satisfy any and every want, need, craving or food allergy. And I thought I had the turkey taken care of because we ordered one. Simple enough, right? Not so much – my dear now-husband (I hope he’s not reading) took care of the ordering part and sent the confirmation to me. Upon opening the confirmation e-mail, I saw that he sent the turkey to house number 92. I lived at house number 94. There wasn’t even a 92 on my street. Panic! We ultimately got the turkey and it all worked out fine, but boy, was I nervous! ...read more

Putting ‘Thanks’ to Work for Your Team

I have an awesome team. We work hard and spend a lot of time together, and it always feels good when I can give them a “shout-out” for their achievements. I’m especially reminded of this as Thanksgiving rolls around. We will all gather around the table next week to give thanks for family, friends and health, but I think we should also remember to express our gratitude to the colleagues who make work life a little easier.

As managers, we might not always be able to reward our teams and colleagues with raises, bonuses or glamorous two-week cruises to tropical paradises. Luckily, there are some things we can do to show them our appreciation.

    I’m Thankful For…

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, for sure. I love the season with its cooler weather, changing leaves, comforting rhythm of school and football season and the opportunity to see family near and far.

In my family, we have a Thanksgiving dinner tradition – giving thanks! It may sound simple, and it is, but it’s an important way to start the busy holiday season for us. Each year before dinner starts, we go around the table and share the things we are thankful for. It’s always meaningful, but we’ve gotten some pretty funny responses from my younger family members on more than one occasion. You know what they say, “out of the mouths of babes”…

    Remembering Veterans All Year Long

Today we celebrate Veterans Day, a day to recognize all those who have served in the armed forces to protect United States and its people. The Out of Office Blog team wants to recognize all the great men and women who have served this nation and continue to protect its freedoms today.

Many of you may know a friend or family member in the armed forces. A few months ago, my brother left to serve overseas in Afghanistan. Although I think of him often, I don’t send e-mails or packages as often as I’d like. So, I created a small “Encouragement Card” that reminds me to send support to my brother through e-mail or by mailing a care package, like we did around Memorial Day. I designed the business card to include his photo and contact information – plus it fits nicely in my wallet. Now when I go to mail a package, I always have his address handy.   ...read more

    Round-up: DIY Fall Décor

If you’re like me, then you love decorating your house for the seasons. Recently, I found myself spending way too much time in the seasonal décor section at a couple of stores when the sole purpose of my shopping excursion was to buy new stainless steel pots and pans. I ended up getting back on task and decided to wait on the home décor – even though I really wanted to purchase a new table centerpiece. What better way to show the changes outside than to reflect the season inside? Autumn brings warmth to the household, along with thoughts of family celebrations, friends and good food. With Halloween and Thanksgiving just a few more fallen leaves away, why not get started decorating for them now? You can even bring in the kids to help with these easy, inexpensive DIY fall décor projects.
