Postcards Aren’t Just for Tourists!

As kids are gearing up to go back to school with the lazy days of summer coming to an end, there’s no better time to get back to business. For small businesses, a great way to reach customers is to create marketing materials such as postcards that make your business stand out from the crowd.

Oftentimes, postcards come to mind when we’re trying to remember what was special about a vacation. How about sending postcards to customers that help them remember what’s unique about your small business, too? Postcards are simple to create plus they are affordable to print and deliver. It’s a tangible reminder of your business placed directly in the hands of your customer.

Where to start? First, design the postcard’s images and text to match the standard 4.25” x 5.5” size and save your final design as a PDF. I suggest including your company logo and easy-to-find contact information. Nothing is more frustrating than to not have a phone number on hand to call with questions or book an appointment!

Next, send FedEx Office® your artwork. There are many ways to do this. You can upload it online, visit the store with your artwork on a USB flash drive or send it from your smartphone using FedEx Office® Print & Go.

Here are samples of three different postcards for a wedding planner, landscaping company, and shoe boutique. If you are a wedding planner, you can add an extra service for your customer by creating postcards for the couple’s rehearsal dinner or save the date reminder. You can also promote sales, special events, or a new product/service. Leave me a comment to share how you’ve used postcards at your small business.

Plus, now until October 14, you can save on postcards, posters, and brochures at FedEx Office to boost your business during the Look Good on Paper Print Sale.

Postcards are NOT as claimed here

I followed these instructions, and found the FedEx Office website does NOT accept 4.25x5.5 inch PDF files.  The postcards are 4.25x5.5, but the FedEx website accepts only 8.5x11 PDF files!  It appears they won't even resize the required 8.5x11 PDF to fit their 4.25x5.5 postcards.  If you google this problem, you'll see that others have also learned the extreme frustratration of FedEx postcards.
