Hip Summer Designs: A Fun Way to Say Thanks

Summertime always brings a flurry of special events. After attending several weddings and baby showers already this summer, I was inspired to create a free printable chevron thank you card and gift tags. Yellow and gray are popular color combinations this season and the chevron pattern (vertical stripes) seems to be everywhere!

I always like to have some extra stationery on hand because you never know when you’ll need it. These prints are versatile and can be used no matter what the occasion.

The matching yellow and gray thank you tags make this free printable package complete.

Do-It-Yourself Wedding Favors: Wine Charms

A few years ago I made wine charms as wedding favors for my friend to give to guests on her special day. Guests were really excited to take home a gift they could use all year around. They are a simple, DIY project that adds a personal touch to a wedding or dinner party. Just follow these easy steps for making the wine charms.

Supply List (per charm):

·         1 inch silver or gold ring with clasp

·         1 charm

·         12-14 small beads

·         Ribbon - 1/8” wide (3mm)

Fun Funnels for Fancy Parties

Who wants to serve party-goers popcorn out of ordinary bowls? Or give out confetti at parties or weddings in those messy tissue-paper rolls tied at both ends with ribbon? While browsing at StyleMePretty, I recently ran across a novel idea for holding all sorts of goodies in a much more stylish way – funnels. Easy, do-it-yourself, decorative paper funnels or cones. The idea is so simple that it’s genius, and so charming that it’s hard to ignore.

You can stuff them with finger foods (think snack mix or tiny candies) or flavored popcorns and use them as a cute appetizer holder at picnics, barbeques, summer movie nights, family get-togethers, even weddings. The possibilities are endless!

An Ode to the Sticky Note

Ah, the sticky note. Despite its simplicity, I think it’s one of the greatest inventions! That small yellow square is a staple in every office – whether home or business. Better yet, now it seems that you can get sticky notes in every shape, color and size imaginable. In fact, about a year ago I found the ultimate sticky note – a preformatted to-do list!

With my blank sheets dwindling, a replacement was definitely needed so I decided to make my own. I created a template and uploaded it to FedEx Office® Design & Print Center, but there are a variety of pre-made options there as well. You can access my template here and watch the video above for step-by-step instructions for uploading your design to the FedEx Office site!

After the Wedding Bells: Newlyweds Car Sign

Have you recently seen a car decorated to celebrate newlyweds tying the knot? Based on tradition, the groomsmen wrap the bridal getaway car for the happy couple. Soap, cans, bells and streamers usually make up the arsenal of handy tools designed to draw attention to the newly married couple.

My friends are getting married this August in Dallas and I want their wedding to be special right down to their reception departure. I like to plan ahead, so I created a Newlyweds Car Sign for the back of their car. I’ll give it to the groomsmen before the wedding so they can place it on the car.

DIY Wedding Invitations: Custom Designs That Won’t Break the Bank

When I was planning my wedding a few years ago, I quickly realized how many different things there were to do and how quickly the seemingly basic projects could add up to be budget breakers. I also found that there were lots of things I could do myself, especially with a little planning and creativity.

One thing that’s particularly easy to do yourself are wedding invitations. It can be challenging to find invitations that fit within your budget and are exactly what you want, but making them yourself allows you to control the costs and turn your vision into a reality.

Before May Flowers Come April Showers…

…bridal showers that is! With wedding season right around the corner, the invitations are starting to pile in for spring and summer weddings, as well as the accompanying bridal showers and other pre-wedding celebrations.

Bridal games can be great ice-breakers for the guests to get to know each other (especially as you get to know your fiancé’s extended family) and I developed some tips for easy-to-make customized games to add a special touch to the event.

Here are a few ideas to jump-start your creativity:
